Jay decides to pop down to Popolino Pizza, a local establishment. According to the reviews they do "pretty decent pizza here" http://www.qype.co.uk/place/1068202-Popolinos-Pizza-Manchester
A quick stroll down to Oxford Road, and she-bang... we arrived. Jay's straight on the case with his "seafood special" and then promptly demands to try out some Popolino's merchandise. Good news: they have t-shirts in his size.
The Pizza soon arrived and was promptly accompanied by some additional trademark tweaks in the form of special chilli sauce and ketchup. Then we were en route back to the office... One thing to look out for on the pics below - Jay's nice little technique for keeping the pizza warm, covering any gaps in the pizza box with his newly acquired Popolino's t-shirt. Jay's a happy man:

That's nothing. Ten years ago he used to survive on those pizzas every day, accompanied by soft drinks, whilst spending weeks at a time sleeping on the rough brown carpet of a friend's room in the halls opposite that pizza shop. And as a teenager he briefly had a job making pizzas in a restaurant in Wales. He was just filling in for a mutual acquaintance who later went on to liberate Jay of his (then shit) C.D. collection. I can't remember the guy's name. True story that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the additional insight / background on this post Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteWe did hear rumour earlier this week of Jay's previous work in the catering industry. We're lead to believe that this invloved pulling second hand food out of the food bin, then serving to old dears in the restaurant.
In Jay's defence, he was instructed to do this by the head chef.
Either way, it's good to know that Jay has experience from both sides of the fence.
